Watching…

I saw Everybody Street in theatres back in 2013 but rewatched it recently for a dose of inspiration. Learning about the life and work of New York’s iconic street photographers like Jamel Shabazz and Joel Meyerowitz gets me hype to pick up my camera on those slow, frigid days.

Listening to…

Endless hours shooting and editing can be fun with the right playlist in my ears. Nothing keeps me more in the zone than the raw and gritty sounds of DJ Premier’s hip-hop jazz-based beats.

Reading…

I’ve been flipping through the pages of my Edward Hopper photo book lately for inspiration when I’ve got the ol’ shooter’s block. Hopper was an important realist painter of the twentieth century and his works are timeless. They align with themes of street photography from showing contrasts between light and shadow, documenting city solitude to playing with sunlight on architecture.
